The spaces we call our own
Three women, three homes, three ways to express identity through design.
A thoughtfully designed space says a lot. Not just about taste, but about what we value. Rest. Creativity. Ritual. Connection. The objects we choose to live with become quiet expressions of how we want to move through the world.
In this edit, Abby, Kimberley and Tash share the stories behind their spaces and spotlight one object they’re loving right now—each pick offers a glimpse into what’s inspiring them lately.
What story does your space tell about you?
Abby
I grew up in homes where the door was always open: to friends, family, neighbours and even strangers were welcome. I love to think that hospitality still shapes my space today. There’s plenty of room to gather and sit comfortably for hours. My fruit bowl is always filled, fresh flowers feel like I’m bringing the outside in and I love changing up the scent of my home every season.
Of course, my space wouldn’t feel like me if it wasn’t carefully curated. I keep things minimal, but every piece is chosen with purpose. I love collecting art from my travels or bringing home objects that just felt right in the moment, little reminders of what was inspiring me at the time.

I think my space is a bit like a personal scrapbook. There are framed photos tucked into corners, a few wonky ceramics from my brief obsession with pottery classes, and messy stacks of books I’ve half-read but can’t bring myself to put away.
I love objects that hold memory. And moving to London has made that even easier — the charity shops here are full of gems, and I always seem to find something that adds a little character to the room. There’s usually music playing, always a candle burning. It’s a little bit cosy, a little bit cluttered, and very me.

My space is my sanctuary. It’s my retreat away from the bustling London life. You’ll find cozy linen sheets, a stocked pantry, and shelves of my favourite books that tell the story of my life, my interests, and my passions. Warm lighting glows from various lamps, incense is burning scents of oud and cinnamon, and bossa nova plays softly from the speakers.
Since moving here from Sydney, I love to fill my space with reminders of the beach, art prints, and pot plants I had back home, bringing those familiar comforts with me into my new one. I am a homebody at heart, and I love to feel like I’m being hugged by my home when I open my door.
What’s one item you’re loving right now?
Abby
The Item: Audo Plinth Low Marble Table
Why I love it: This coffee table is as much a sculptural artwork as it is a functional piece. It’s beautifully restrained and simple yet instantly elevates a space. This table was definitely an investment, but it’s become the centrepiece of my home, setting the tone for everything else. Most of the objects I’ve collected and curated have naturally revolved around it, making it feel like the true heart of my home.

The Item: IKEA Varmblixt LED Lamp
Why I love it: It’s a donut. It’s a lamp. It glows like a sunset and makes my flat feel like the set of an A24 film I wish I lived in. I spotted it on a late-night scroll and couldn’t stop thinking about it. Now it lives in my bedroom and casts the most beautiful light each evening — which works perfectly, because I refuse to turn on the big light unless it’s an emergency.

The Item: Tiipoi Karipot Small
Why I love it: Food is my love language. I love to cook and share meals with others, and curating my cookware brings me great joy. It was gifted to me as a birthday present from someone very special, so every time I make something in my little pot, there’s a bit of extra love that goes into it. It’s the perfect size for an at home hot-pot for one, and it looks great displayed on my living room shelves.
